Teaching Emotions to Kindergarten Students with Emotions Bingo

Welcome to a blog post that introduces a fun and engaging activity designed for kindergarten students to learn about emotions and develop their social-emotional skills. The activity, Emotions Bingo, is based on a video that shows different people experiencing various emotions. By guessing and identifying these emotions, students can enhance their understanding of feelings and improve their interpersonal communication skills.

No-Prep Activity: Emotions Bingo

Emotions Bingo requires no preparation or materials from the educator. To play the game, simply show the video, which features different people expressing emotions in various situations, and have students guess the emotions being displayed. The students will then mark the corresponding emotion on their bingo board. The first student to get four emotions in a row – up, down, or diagonal – can say “bingo!” and wins the game. Throughout the video, pause it at the designated moments to discuss how everyone is feeling.

By participating in Emotions Bingo, students will learn to identify and understand different emotions, such as happiness, confusion, and more. This will help them develop empathy and strengthen their social-emotional skills.

Discussion Questions

  3. How can we show empathy and support when someone is experiencing a strong emotion?
  4. Can you think of a time when you felt a strong emotion? How did you express it, and how did others respond?
