Free Preschool Conversation Topics Worksheet PDF

Preschool learners require a good amount of support and scaffolding when it comes to using a variety of conversation topics and thinking about what others might want to talk about. Make sure to download the free preschool conversation topics worksheet and PDF above for your next lesson!

Teaching Conversation Topics to Preschool Students

Maintaining a topic requires asking questions and making comments within the realm of that topic. The flexibility of one’s mind is stretched as learners expand their thoughts to formulate new ideas for specific topics.

Lesson Plan – Using Your Free Preschool Conversation Topics Worksheet/PDF

1. Teach the Concept of a “Topic”

It can be challenging for preschool learners to learn this concept, so make sure to use visuals or models from our video lessons. I like to use a speech bubble blank image and write or draw the topic inside of it. I would say, “Right now we’re talking about blocks, so our topic is blocks.” or “You’re talking about cars so our topic is toy cars.”

2. Teach How to Match or Connect the Topic

Students need to understand why we stay on topic and how to do it. Again, use a blank speech bubble visual to make a matching game where students can match the topics. Explain how if we do not stay on topic, others will become confused, so we match our topic and words to what is being talked about.

3. Use Our Free Conversation Topics Worksheet

Our free downloadable conversation topics worksheet has common preschool topics illustrated as pictures for you to cut out and use to teach this lesson. Students can practice drawing a card and having a conversation about the topic.
