Keeping Personal Space explores the physical distance people need from others’ bodies in order to feel comfortable. Noticing when others lean or step back helps monitor appropriate distance and ensure we are doing our part to maintain the physical comfort of those around us.

Liz: Hey, Ashley!

Ashley: Hi, Liz!

Liz: How was your soccer game?

Ashley: It was good. We won!

Liz: Great!

Ashley: (internal thought) When I talk to someone, I look and see where their body is. I keep my body close, but not too close.
