Social Skills Video: Showing Empathy-Younger

Bobby is upset because his soccer team lost. When he tells Alessandra, she doesn’t really care. Alessandra learns about empathy, or understanding how other people feel. She thinks about the karate tournament she lost and now she understands how Bobby feels.
Use Showing Empathy-Younger
Once students understand feelings they can move on to the more complex concept of empathy. They can learn that showing empathy will show they can be good friends. It’s one thing to understand how another might feel and once we can do that, we can take the next step to show that we care.
